Pastor Jim Mucerino and his wife, Robin, graduated from Dayspring Bible College & Seminary 20 years ago. They moved from the Chicago area to the north woods of Minnesota to serve the Lord here at Bemidji Baptist Church . The church had its humble beginning in the old Bronco Theater concession stand. Pastor Mucerino worked at a local grocery store while faithfully preaching every Sunday and Wednesday. After many years of hard work and dedication, they began to slowly see the fruits of their labors.
As their congregation grew, they saw the need to expand their ministries. One of the first programs to be added was the Christian school. With just a couple of students, Pastor and Robin began to lay the foundation that would eventually become Bemidji Christian School.
As time went on, and the Lord continued to bless Bemidji Baptist Church. Sunday School classes, Jr Church and Wednesday evening services were added. Members of the church were actively participating and working together as a body of believers to reach families in Bemidji.
Other special activities that became part of their ministry included, potluck dinners, annual garage sales, men’s and women’s retreats, cookouts, bon fires, summer Wednesday fun nights and occasional tent meetings.
As the church saw an increase in membership, the need for a new building arose, construction began, and was completed in 1997. Everyone was amazed, by the wonderful blessing of the new building. The church family continues to look for new opportunities to minister to both its current members and the community around them. Most recently the church has added family camp and Reformer Unanimous additions recovery program.
Serving here in Bemidji has had its difficulties, but with those challenges came even greater blessings. We are thankful for the 20 years that God has allowed the Bemidji Baptist Church to serve its surrounding community. Through prayer and God’s grace we will continue to serve the people of Bemidji for the next 20 years and many more to come.
